Fix Fundraising

Fix Fundraising

Our charities and community groups should be able to get on with their jobs.

Australia’s fundraising laws are a mess. If a charity or community group wants to raise money, they need to apply for a fundraising licence in every state they raise money in. Before the internet, this may not have mattered, but in these days of GoFundMe and Kickstarter, any fundraising is national.

Now, any small charity with a donate button on its website may need to post an ad in the paper in Queensland, and get a police check in WA. They’re doing this instead of getting on with their vital work, wasting time and money that could go to building more vibrant communities.

Justice Connect has joined with dozens of not-for-profits around Australia, asking our government to #fixfundraising.
